Notice of an Online Art Show

Jean Hand Triol / Comment on this

This painting with all its fine detail was a personal challenge, much more than I normally undertake in my paintings. But I felt that intricacy was needed to capture the deep mystery of this special place. My watercolor painting will be part of a Montana Watercolor Society show — the Signature Member Show. This show can be viewed online starting today through mid March. The link is: montanawatercolorsociety.org Read More

At Full Attention

Jean Hand Triol / Comment on this

Riley is a beautiful, highly intelligent Australian Shepherd. His breed is not always easy to handle in domestic situations having been bred to herd sheep and the like. This portrait captures him at a rare still moment during one of his walks. It was fun to do this watercolor, trying to capture a bit of this dog’s personality and attitude. I love the way the images of the background trees reflect in the water. It helps to make this painting more interesting and special. I’m open to doing more pet portrait commissions. If you have one and this appeals to you, just message me below or go to my website and we can talk about it. jeanhtriol.com

Gators & Spoonbills in the Pink

Jean Hand Triol / 1 Comment

I was commissioned to do this painting from a photograph taken during a kayak trip on a Florida River. My client liked the symmetry of the reflection in the water, but he wanted a more lively scene for his painting. “Can you add a sunset, flamingos, and alligators?” he asked. Well, that was an interesting challenge. I gave him his sunset and the alligators, but, lacking flamingos, I added a gang of pink spoonbills, a bit larger than life, to the scene. No matter. He loves his painting. The painting is acrylic on canvas. My new personal website address is: https://jeanhtriol.com

Sisters

Jean Hand Triol / 7 Comments

Sisters often have a special kind of intimacy that’s hard to describe. When I saw this photograph of three women walking arm in arm together, I was inspired to try and capture that feeling in a watercolor sketch. I can’t wait to show it to my sisters. They will love it. It’s we three, my own sisters, touring the Greek isles last October. The Hand sisters.
